I'm paraphrasing a bit with that title. That's not quite what Andrew said, when he questioned my purchasing of a few big-leaf begonias at the everything store (buy salmon, raspberries, a coffee maker and a few plants...all in one stop!)...![]()
This is why. Three plants I purchased there on a whim—late in summer 2019— actually wintered over, here is one of them.

This is one of the "questionable" plants I purchased to build on the theme. Only $2.50, what's not to love? Well, as long as they're not allowed to bloom. Foliage only please!

Plus they went nicely with the Datura meteloides 'Double Lavender’...

Of course by the time I got around to snapping an over all shot of the area the datura flowers had faded. But look! The the Astelia 'Silver Shadow'I purchased recently ended up here, it seemed to continue to color scheme rather nicely so in it went.

Now here's where I complain about Blogger, again. I took at great video of the sun dancing across this section of the garden which I tried to upload, but for some reason it simply wouldn't work.
