The insane wind broke a stem of Helleborus x 'Golden Sunrise'...so when the world gives you lemons...

It joined a few cut stems from our local New Seasons Market. The different faces of Scabiosa...

It's color worked with the Hellebore flowers perfectly.

And I love how different each one was, the stages all so unique.

They were joined by some of that cool thing with the green balls that I can't remember the name of (dammit)...

Another shot of the Hellebore stem. I suppose one nice thing about it breaking was that since the flowers are past their prime, and starting to form seeds, they actually last quite awhile in a vase.

Hopefully (fingers crossed, salt tossed, wood knocked) I'll be sharing more vases with Scabiosa in the staring roll...

I started seeds of both these types a few weeks ago. They've both germinated successfully (that's something else in the second tray, Bomarea sp. (Orange flowering), seeds from my plant...we'll see, I just sowed them last week).

But I'm still waiting for the "true leaves" to break through.

When not luxuriating in the sun of the driveway (we've had a couple warm days) they're hanging out in the backseat of my car. Good light, they're not assaulted by insane rainstorms, and they stay a little warmer. It's a mobile greenhouse...

I've also got several Zinnia seeds to plant, when the weather warms.

I got a bee in my bonnet last week and was going to plant them, but smart Facebook friends warned me to wait a few weeks (we're still unseasonably cold here). Just as well, I've got Agave pups to plant out and get to rooting.
