Wednesday Vignette: "why is there a pie-plate floating in the pond?"

In my post on the garden of Carolyn and Larry Kolb I pointed out what seemed to be a floating dish in their pond. On it were several water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes), it gave me an idea and I vowed to try it in my garden with my Salvinia minima. Of course I couldn't stop there and have enjoyed snipping an occasional Passiflora bloom to add, but only when it was blooming away in a spot not visible from the patio. The title of this Wednesday Vignette comes from Andrew's response when he saw it...
