I never thought I'd become one of those people who doesn't get downtown. Downtown is where it's at! And I was frequently there, until I wasn't. I've become a boring old married person who just doesn't feel the draw like I used to. On the occasion I do get downtown however one of my must-visit stops is Solabee at Boys Fort. So imagine my delight when I noticed a new location in North Portland, yes!
To my memory this building used to house a gross furniture store, it was so uninteresting that I stopped noticing it, which must account for the fact I'd driven by for a whole month before realizing it was now a Solabee location. Turns out the space had great bones and cleaned up really nicely...
Nice big windows to keep their plants healthy and happy.
And that tile floor! Swoon-worthy...
High ceilings and a mezzanine too...what a great space.
I discovered them just minutes before closing on a Sunday so was more concerned with just snapping a few photos than actually shopping. There will be plenty of time for that in the future...
The downtown Solabee space is rather cramped and dark, it's interesting to see their style transition to an open, light-filled shop.
This location is just across the street from a Portland Community Collage campus, how handy for impromptu flower giving...
Ludisia discolor, such an easy (and beautiful) plant.
Quality tools...
...and kokedama round out the offerings.
But I couldn't help but want to get up there...
Coincidentally the ladies of Solabee are the guests on Debra Prinzing's Slow Flower Podcast this week...click on over to give that a listen (which I haven't been able to do yet), there are great photos too!
