In the early days of my knowing Andrew, before we were dating, when we were simply coworkers, the discussion of Mexican fast food came up. He mentioned Taco Bell in a somewhat favorable manner and I scoffed. No no no. Taco Time is the better of the two (keep in mind Taco Del Mar is fancy and late to the Mexican fast food party, we were talking old-school). Evidently that conversation forever marked me as pretentious, as far as he was concerned. In my defense I offer that Taco Time has a salsa bar...really, isn't the choice obvious?
That was some 15 or 16 years ago but the comparison came to mind when I stopped at a Starbucks south of Olympia, Washington, on my way home from Seattle. Starbucks shared a parking lot with Taco Time where I saw these plantings...
Yes! Opuntia and Cylindropuntia...
Not common plantings in Washington and I dare you to find a Taco Bell with anything that comes close.
Taco time rules! Of course the Saguaro on their logo only reinforces their coolness...
