Happy New Year! Happy new way of looking at our gardens, our world, ourselves. Of course you can keep the old ways too, but isn't it fun to see things shiny new and fresh?
This photo is one of a series that photographer Saxon Holt took last summer, of my summer-dry front garden. All the usual characters are there, but his way of photographing them has me thinking a little differently about things. For example, the trunk of the Styrax japonicus (Japanese snowbell) in the hellstrip looks AMAZING! If I didn't hate that tree, well, I'd almost love it. Here's to the New Year and to looking at things with fresh eyes now and then.
