I stumbled upon this colorful gem during our October outing to Hood River, Oregon.
It sits on a large corner lot on a step hillside, with great views of the Columbia River Gorge. We'll get to the views in a bit, we're starting the tour at the bottom of the lot.
The house is way up at the top of several colorful steps.
Peekaboo.
At the base of the steps are two metal cages painted lilac, one stands empty.
While the other one contains some rather robust wisteria—at least I think that's what it is.
Looking up the long sidewalk bordering the property's side.
I crossed the street to take this overall shot. Wondering about the property; the colors and the round glass lamp shades looked like something from a circus to me. Was there a connection?
Continuing the colorful theme...
Things looked a just little past their prime too, as though the one who conceived of it all was no longer able to care for it.
Well-pruned, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was (if I knew)...
These were all along the sidewalk, although some had been chipped away.
I've finally reached the top corner of the property. The tent above the garage reinforces the circus vibe.
And finally you can see the view.
Every circus tent needs lions, or well in this case foo dogs.
Once we were back at our hotel that evening I did a little online sleuthing hoping to learn more about this colorful house. First I found a story from February 2020 (with interior photos!) and then followed a link to a Windermere Realty listing showing that the 5,340 square foot, six bedroom, four bathroom home sold for $1,300,000. Wow.
Oh well, I didn't want to move to Hood River anyway...
