I spotted this roadside garden after I left Swansons Nursery and headed towards I-5 for the drive home from Seattle to Portland. There was a back-up on my normal route, so I started cutting through side-streets and that's when I spotted it. It seems a fun distraction what with all the serious issues on our minds.
I couldn't tell if this bit of land was public, or private—it dropped off steeply behind what you see here, so no house seemed to claim it. One thing was certain though, the garden itself is maintained by the gnomes.
And there are snakes...
There was a full-blown party going on under that little tree.
The three other gnomes in this photo seem oblivious to what the cat is up to.
I wish I knew who Bob was. Perhaps the tender of this garden?
This was my very favorite plant creature and the reason I stopped to photograph.
How can you not help but smile at a cowboy hat wearing masked evergreen "person"?
