I am always thrilled when I spot a new-to-me patch of opuntia. These are in SE Portland, just a block off a street I travel all the time...
So spiky! I'm not bending to take these photos, the plants were at and above my eye-level, at the top of a sort of rock and wood wall.
This was my favorite part, the opuntia pad growing through the stump.
Thus I suppose this photo is my actual "Wednesday Vignette"...
I wish I'd kept better track of all the different opuntia patches I've seen around Portland, there are an amazing—to me at least—quantity of them.
