Faith. I have faith that you can see beyond these horrid iPhone photos (why didn't I pull the camera out of my handbag!?) and appreciate what a glorious dark shrub this is...
I believe it's Pittosporum tenuifolium 'County Park Dwarf'. My first sighting was back in 2019 when I stopped by the Pat Calvert Greenhouse at the Arboretum in Seattle. I thought it was just a fluke that it looked so good then, but here it was, a year later (just last Saturday), still shiny and black.
I ventured on to the greenhouse where there are small plants for sale and what do you know? They had a tiny (oh so tiny) rooted cutting for sale. It was just a couple of bucks so I bought it. Faith. I have faith that someday it will grow up to be visible in my garden. Fingers crossed.
