March 2019 Bloomday

If ever there was a Bloomday that I felt like I could skip this would be the one. Since February's Bloomday everything has been a holding pattern, due to the cold. If you page down and are overcome with a strong sense of déjà vu that's why...

The Edgeworthia chrysantha 'Nanjing Gold' blooms have never lasted this long. Sadly, up until this week, it's been so cold their fragrance has largely been unnoticeable.

Edgeworthia chrysantha ‘Akebono’ blooms are just starting to open.

Good times ahead.

I was tempted to ignore the hellebores this month, but since they're such a big part of what's still blooming I shot a few of them. Helleborus argutifolius

Helleborus NOID

Helleborus 'Ice 'n Roses'

Helleborus x ballardiae Pink Frost

Helleborus 'Onyx Odyssey'

Helleborus 'Rio Carnival'

And of course, Helleborus x hybridus 'Jade Tiger'

These cute little Iris reticulata ‘Pixie’ are almost done, but they still look great if you don't ask for a close-up.

Alstroemeria 'Indian Summer' blooming in the shade pavilion greenhouse.

Grevillea miqueliana

March is when the Euphorbia really start to shine, although this year they're a little behind. E. amygdaloides var. Robbiae...

Euphorbia 'Ascot Rainbow'

And my favorite, Euphorbia rigida.

It's so good!
