TEN YEARS! And some exciting news...

Today marks ten years since I hit publish for the first time on this blog. Are you wondering how many posts that is? Two thousand six hundred and fifty six...2,656! That's a lot of garden talk.

I looked back to see who made the first comment, and ignoring the one from my coworker who was sitting next to me when I published, it was Pam Penick of Digging. How appropriate, since she was a big reason I started reading garden blogs in the first place. Thinking back on why I started to blog I remember feeling I had something to add to the gardening conversation. Even though blogging isn't as immediate as say a post on Facebook, or Instagram, it is still a conversation. The thousands of comments left here each year prove that.

The people I've met through blogging have become such an important part of my gardening world. These include my fellow bloggers, people who comment, and people who never comment but introduce themselves when our paths cross in person. Thank you for sharing this adventure with me.

I have learned so much through blogging. Perhaps the most surprising of all—to me at least—is a love of writing. I've been an avid reader my entire life, but never a writer until blogging. I suppose that's why the news I am about to share still takes me by surprise, I'm working on a book!!! The fine folks at Timber Press approached me to ask if I was interested, and I said yes.

Me, write a book? Who would have thought!

I'm a few months into the process, the BIG date on the calendar is in early November, 2019. That's when I am due to hand over all the words and photos I'll have spent a year putting together. Around a year after that and I'll be holding a book, MY book, in my hands. Soon after that I hope you will be too.

I've been fairly consistent in my posting here, maintaining a Monday through Friday schedule with a few exceptions. As the long-form project takes more and more of my time that will change I'm sure. I'll miss a day or two here or there—danger garden will remain a priority—it just has to share my time with the book, and the garden.

Thank you for coming by all these years, I look forward to sharing the next part of this adventure with you...
