Back on November 18th I joined a group of local plant lovers who descended upon Cistus Nursery for a shopping and social event.
The weather could not have been better, the Aesculus californica, California buckeye, was beautiful against the blue sky.
Sweet! I didn't plant an Echium candicans 'Star of Madeira' this year.
I do love this plant. Maybe it will be a mild winter and theirs will be around to bloom next year.
Sharp teeth x 2
Dyckia 'Silver Superstar'
Cistus likes the fancy begonia foliage too...
Sonchus canariensis
Agave parrasana Meat Claw'
Our group was allowed to wander some of the normally "closed to the public" greenhouses. Naturally my camera was busy...
Bin-o-spikes!
It's nice to see cactus supporting each other.
I didn't see a label on this beauty.
I know I've photographed this clump before, the colors are just so lovely.
One of those cute spotted Mangaves.
Quercus hypoleucoides
Yes! Good to know someone's got a few Daphne x houtteana.
Blechnum spicant
Blechnum chilense, and friends.
Lupinus albifrons
Corokia x virgata 'frosted chocolate', I should have picked up one of these.
That's Dale's leg, he was the organizer of this fun event, he's also taking home that fab Acanthus sennii. Dale blogs at Bear & Briar.
I came home with three plants, an Aechmea x Billbergia, which is already potted up and spending time on my desk (and I've been told this may be x Cryptbergia 'Red Burst').
This huge Pyrrosia sheareri...
And another Astelia 'Red Devil', because you can never have too many.
It's always a good day to visit Cistus Nursery...
