On Christmas morning there was a strange plant under the Opuntia Christmas tree. At first, in the dim morning light, I wasn't sure what it was...

I could see there was a flower at the top, it looked a little like an Amaryllis.

There were flower buds, and odd leaves.

And the whole thing seemed to be growing out of a pot within the nursery pot.

How strange it was.

Of course once I turned the lights on I could see what it was.

And that my husband had had some fun with our Kate Blairstone wrapping paper.

The plant itself is pretty cool...

But the hybrid is a knock-out!
