Finally! My neighborhood is happening...

We moved to Portland in 2004 and rented for a year while we figured out what part of town we wanted to live in. When we finally bought our house the market was out of control, you had to bid the day the house was listed, and for a sum significantly over the asking price. The area in which we settled seemed to be on the verge of happening, then the great recession hit and that went on hold. Things finally started to move again about the time Old Salt Marketplace opened in 2013...

Since then it's been crazy how fast it's all changing. The most recent addition to the 'hood is Fabius Grange, a fabulous vintage shop ("foraged and found") owned by our friend Deb Zori.

Deb's been selling at a space in the Grand Marketplace for years, and has been part of many other vintage markets around town. I am thrilled to have her first "brick and mortar" space so close. That's it below, the weekend she opened. Proper signage is on the way.

She's got a strong sense of style and a very good eye.

It was hard to walk away from this. Only $45 for pot, stand and plant!

I just kept asking myself where I would put it...

Isn't the edge on this bowl fantastic?

So much fabulous pottery...

Always be the blue elephant. The world needs more blue elephants.

The green and black artwork makes me wish we had more open space on our walls.

And I have to admit, even though I took this photo I didn't fully appreciate the painting on the left until now. It's all sorts of wonderful.

After we visited Deb we had brunch at Old Salt and then wandered across the street to visit Portland Bloem (which I first wrote about here), we were reminded the Farmer's Market opened the next week...

Right by Deb's place. That's got to be some good traffic!

Oh ya...they're speaking my language!

When I first discovered Portland Bloem the outdoor nursery space was just being built out. Now it's in full swing...

And the plants are top-notch.

Next door to Portland Bloem is the Cully Farm Store, how cool is that? We didn't have time to look around that day, but I look forward to returning soon.

Walking home I couldn't help but notice some updated plantings in front of another shop.

Yep, things are definitely looking up...
