Well hell. Yesterday, when I shared the "leftovers" vase I made for myself, I realized I still hadn't posted the photos I took of the Christmas decorations (thanks for the prompt Outlaw). Duh, what was I waiting for?
So...Christmas this year. The only thing that really inspired me were the bottle-brush trees I bought at Pomarius. Working off that inspiration I picked up another at the crafts store and another at Target. Then I decided "why not" and I pulled out all the other little trees I've accumulated over the years. We ended up with 12 small "trees" and one large Charlie Brown tree (the Blue Atlas Cedar)...
Poor thing (the Blue Atlas Cedar) was bent when I bought it and it's only gotten worse. I'm going to need to find it a home in the ground soon...
Sparkle is another key element of this year's decor. I do love me some Christmas sparkle.
One of those small arrangements I wrote about last week.
Three of my oldest trees. I've had these since the mid 90's.
Before I focus up at the mantle proper, here's the newest tree...bringing the count to 12. It's a wooden number where you slip together flat pieces allowing it to become 3-D.
So up on the mantle we'll start on the far left with this glitter cone. It's harsh and I love it. The glass bead garland was a gift years ago from an antiquing friend. She gave me enough beads that I've made a few garlands from them.
I think this pair of glass trees came from Garden Fever. The glitter wreath has adorned our front door in prior years but this year I thought it would be nice here.
As with all things glittery it leaves a path of shimmer in its wake. Andrew has even had a bit of glitter on his Carhartts this season.
The Poinsettia arrangement is still holding up.
And the bottle-brush trees make me very happy, especially with their moss skirting.
Looking back over the collection...
Now for the tree. Okay, sure everyone can have a nice upright and bushy conifer for the holidays.
Only the special people can have a bent over and sparse blue tree.
Filled with ancient shiny-brite ornaments and tin icicles.
