I almost didn't make this one, realizing only late yesterday afternoon that today in fact was Garden Bloggers Bloomday. Oh hell, I haven't missed posting since I started back in April of 2009, I can't just let a streak like that die. Out into the rain I went...

The warm temperatures we'd been experiencing had my hopes high the Passiflora 'Purple Tiger' buds might open. Now that it's cooled off I don't know if that's gonna happen. I haven't seen this one bloom yet, and not sure if it's worth trying to overwinter again if it's not going to bloom (for images it's worth clicking here).

Abutilon Nuabyell — I can't recommend these two strong enough. They stay compact and bloom for months and months.

Nicotiana alata 'Lime Green' has also been a long bloomer.

Correa backhouseana, isn't the little bud (on the right) cute?

Passiflora 'Sunburst' is pushing out bloom after bloom. I think it's trying to earn my favor since I'll need to dig it up again if I want it to survive winter.

Abutilon megapotamicum 'Red', the dark blob on the left is a seed pod.

I thought the Ceanothus 'Dark Star' had lost it's mind, opening a bloom this early.

But looking back at last November I see it was doing the same.

And the regular old straight green leaf, Fatsia japonica.

This mess is between the shade pavilion greenhouse and the back of the garage, it's sort of a protected area where I mass containers that can spend the winter outdoors, unprotected. It was a fluke that something caught my eye.

I never would have dreamt the Helleborus x hybridus 'Jade Tiger' was already opening a couple of flowers. This happens in January. I guess I better dig it out of this spot so I can enjoy them.

I think I'm going to have to give the Rosemary a severe haircut come spring.

And another surprise, flowers opening on the Arctostaphylos x ‘Austin Griffiths'! I'm glad I didn't let this Bloomday slip by unrecorded. Visit May Dreams Gardens for links to all the bloggers posting today.
